Revenge is the Sweetest Flavor

While Nikita got a nasty wound that might be fatal to her unborn litter, Punk is in a trying position herself. The female who stole the crown hasn't had the best of luck in other fields. Her fiery attitude seems to fool her followers as she hasn't been a very productive leader in providing numbers, unlike Lola who was on top of breeding status and fueled the Zappa's numbers. Winnie and her brother Jim are the only survivors from Punk's first litter and they count as the youngest members. Houdini, Punk's partner in crime, seems to be losing his interest in Punk and in order to keep on top, Punk has been pushing the limits...but this time might of been too far.

The only way that Punk can keep being dominant female is to have litters, provide the next generation to raise the numbers of the group, and she went into battle heavily pregnant. The damage Nikita had done might prove to be Punk's downfall. Punk goes straight belowground while the rest of the family groom and play, but three meerkats have been watching Punk's progress. One of those meerkats is Lola, who was once the Zappa's queen until she was attacked and lost her position to her sister. Lola is feeling much better and she has been watching Punk closely, looking for the best opportunity to strike and what is more...Lola too is pregnant from Aztec males, namely Zaphod.

Two other females paying extra attention is Lola's two daughters; Millie and Melanie. Both females have lived in the group for a good while but they now want a taste of something more. Besides, they can't forgive their aunt for stealing their mother's crown.

Lola decides to act. With Punk not at full strength, this is the perfect chance for Lola to get back her position. She is quick to assert herself over the other females in the group. Houdini is watching the action and decides to take action, he scent marks the males and area around the burrow then tries grooming Lola. Since Lola is already pregnant, she ignores his advances.

All activity is halted when a frail figure crawls out from the burrow. It's Punk and judging from the flat belly it is clear what happened, Punk had miscarried her litter and is weaken from it and her wounds. Lola is merciless as she attacks her sister, hip-slamming and scent marking Punk who can do little but lay on her back. Millie and Melanie are quick to join in and finally once it's over Lola does the final act, she evicts Punk then leads her family off to find a new burrow for the next Zappa litter.

Punk is left behind, wounded, miserable, and confused. She looks after the retreating group but doesn't try to follow them, not yet anyway. Her injuries hurt and she really just wants to rest.

But it turns out that Millie and Melanie are not going to get away scot free. Both females are pregnant and threats to Lola's unborn pups, so both females find themselves on the receiving end of eviction and flee the group. The Zappa have come under new management and hopefully things will go well.

For Punk and her girls...it can only be guessed if they'll make it.

Tough Facts

At the fierce rivals to all meerkat mobs, things seem to have settled down. Nikita is still the lean, mean dominating machine, but she has a new partner in crime following Zorro's death. Baker has taken dominance of the group and he is very pleased with his newfound position. Miles is not happy though, he spent most of his time being bullied by Zorro and not being Nikita's main man hurts, but he has plans for change and has been watching his brother closely, too closely. The rest of the group has other matters to distract them; namely the birth of Venus's four pups. Duke is today's teacher and has Ever and Cho trailing him while Kili tries to get her grandmother to give her a free handout, not happening since Nikita needs the food. Miles has been watching and waiting and with Baker distracted he makes his move and soon both boys are fighting for Nikita's favor, the said female doesn't even seem to notice. It soon becomes clear from the get-go that Miles has the upper end and Baker finally surrenders, he is dominant no longer and Miles is now able to claim his birthright, to be a dominant male like his father. Miles' celebration is cut short by an alarm call, Nikita has spotted intruders. The Zappa. Knowing the threat that is looming, Nikita's daughter Celi leads the pups off with Cooper. If the Zappa get the chance then they would kill Venus's pups. The Commandos line up and with her new man by her side, Nikita leads the charge and the others follow suit. They don't even have to get bloody as the show of their wardance is enough to intimidate the Zappa who flee. Nikita savors victory...but she doesn't realize that she has sent the Zappa straight towards the pups and their helpers. The Zappa quickly change from flight to fight when they smell Commando pups. Cooper manages to get away and runs to find and alert the group, Celi is left to fend off the Zappa as the rival gang digs frantically at the bolt hole. They are so caught up that nobody seems to notice the Commandos are massing up until Lola spots them, only then does the Zappa have to give up their raid. Nikita leads a charge, hoping to have repeated luck, but not this time. Punk is not about to run, even with risks, she responds and the battle breaks out. Nikita is older and easily pins Punk down, Venus and Lola exchange blows, Duke and Miles attacks Houdini and Celi attacks Punk's youngest daughter Winnie. The fight becomes too much and the Zappa are forced to defeat. Although the Commandos have claimed victory...there is bad news. Nikita might have beaten Punk up good, but the other meerkat got a lucky shot and Nikita has a wound on her belly and it's quite serious. The Commandos' fierce leader has suffered a harsh blow and her unborn pups might not survive. With Nikita unable to lead, her daughter Venus is the one who leads the family back to the burrow. Nikita follows at the back of the group, in pain and when their burrow comes up she goes straight belowground. The group gathers and are in for a tense, long wait to see if their vicious queen will make it through.

Good Fortune

On the other side of the manor, another group is also up and foraging. It's the Aztecs, this group use to be part of the Whiskers at one time but disagreements led to some members splitting off and now there is no love loss between them. Maybelline had a tough start since many members left, but with the arrival of granddad Zaphod and having her first litter in the mob, things have went well for them. Maybelline is also expecting so her pups are eagerly awaited by the rest of her gang. While the group forages, Burdock takes watch over the family. She is a young meerkat, but she wants to do as much as she can to stay in the family and on Maybelline's good side. Her attempts are ignored by the boss, but Zaphod likes the change to be able to take a break from being top lookout, and to celebrate, he's got a tasty millipede. But it's the dry season and although it might not seem like it, food is starting to become harder to find. The Aztecs have been forced to span further to keep finding the goods and it has already led into some encounters. Burdock's sister Squig has a healing wound on her front leg from an encounter with the Van Helsing, a new group formed by EJ, Angie, and Bananas. These three females were evicted by Maybelline after becoming pregnant and didn't rejoin the group. Instead, they teamed up with some males and formed a new family led by EJ who is the oldest. But the Van Helsing aren't big so they aren't much to chase off, but there are larger and stronger groups out there that really can test the Aztecs' ire. The Lazuli were previously encountered and during the fight, EJ was injured and lost her pups. Another rival group is the Zappa. After being gone last season this group is back in the game and have been giving their rivals some problems. If it isn't encounters then it's the rovers but the little family is strong and Maybelline is confident in her place. But soon she'll need to find a safe burrow to have her second litter of Aztecs pups and the dwindling conditions are worrying enough to have her move her family. The Aztecs have had good luck so far, surprisingly better luck then the Whiskers were having. The last time the two groups met the Aztecs were sent into retreat and once even driven from their new burrow. If they were to meet again...would things still be the same, or will this time Rocket Dog be the one to flee? Only time will truly tell.

Family Unrest

Since we last visited them, the Whiskers have went through a few changes. Rocket Dog is still in charge and has fully recovered from her snakebite, but she has another problem that might put her future into uncertainty. During a crossing over the main road, Rocket Dog was hit by a car. Despite how fatal such instances are, Rocket Dog survived...but her leg had been broken. In the time since the accident it had healed fairly well, but it was sore and Rocket Dog did have a noticeable limp when she walked and she can't stand on her legs for too long. For the dominant female this is a worrying sign and Rocket Dog is doing everything she can to make it not obvious, if a leader is too weak then she will surely lose her position, especially since there is a worthy rival who wants a little more in life now. Sophie had taken the lead of the Whiskers when Rocket Dog was bitten and she had stepped in again when her leg was broken. Even though Rocket Dog took back her position as Whiskers Head, Sophie is having difficulties returning to the role of subordinate female. Another figure who has changed is Mitch. The scars on his face came from a snakebite and he's still healing, although he's no longer quite a looker, he is still loyal and has been helping Rocket Dog lead. The Whiskers are up and ready to go find food and today is extra special. A single pup comes out of the burrow, it's Pounce. While Rocket Dog was injured, Sophie had a romantic encounter with the Lazuli male, Squeak. It seems old Casanova Wilson is not longer Sophie's number one. With no other pups, Pounce is babied by everyone in the family, even Rocket Dog finds time to pamper her nephew and today Pounce gets to join the grown ups foraging. Once she feels ready Rocket Dog leads the way and the others follow and soon the gang is digging, except for Pounce who gets free handouts just by making begging calls. Mitch is taking a break from guard duty so Axel is the one who is first watch, but he has an apprentice. Flashman seems to want to help and tries to copy him...with little success. Rocket Dog's oldest daughter, Beaker seems to have little interest in finding her own food and has noticed her cousin Pickle cleaning a millipede. Being bigger and Rocket Dog's daughter, Beaker thinks it entitles her to special treatment and she tries muscling in on her cousin's meal. Pickle is having none of it and defends her food and all Beaker gets from it is a small piece and a bloody nose. Close by, Beaker gets another lesson. Rocket Dog is digging up a beetle but Sophie decides that she wants it and after some scrambling, Sophie walks off with the prize leaving Rocket Dog to look elsewhere for a meal. Unfortunately her leg is feeling the strain and starting to pain her so Rocket Dog moves into the shade to rest. She is still hungry but trying to go on a hurt leg is not a good idea. Sophie, meanwhile, seems to be fine as she robs Nugget of his catch then muscles Mitch out of his freshly dug hole and claims the prize he dug up. It seems that Sophie's confidence has built up since the previous season and Rocket Dog's days as Whiskers leader could be on countdown, if Rocket Dog's leg doesn't heal properly then everything she has worked for will be useless and the new queen of the Whiskers maybe be left with few options...especially if Sophie decides to take revenge for all Rocket Dog had done to her. The Whiskers could be heading for a new era.

Introduction

Last Season on Meerkat Manor...Rocket Dog proved that she might have what she takes to follow in her mother's footsteps. Her sister Maybelline also proved herself as the leader of the Aztecs and even had a litter of pups. At the fierce Commandos changes came when Whisker boys joined and Zorro turned his wrath on Miles, but sadly his time on top was cut short, leaving the Commandos once more without a dominant male.
